Established in 2021, the DEI Committee serves to oversee, execute, and build upon AOTA’s DEI Strategic Plan and to provide strategic guidance to the Board of Directors and other governance bodies to assess progress and advance DEI within AOTA and the profession.

- Genuine interest in DEI and AOTA'a vision;
- Experience related to the successful development, implementation, and evaluation of DEI initiatives; and
- An understanding of the changing nature of DEI within society, the profession, and AOTA

The AOTA Special Interest Section Council (SISC) is recruiting for up to six vacancies in each of the following special interest sections:
Academic Education SIS (AESIS) (Term: July 1, 2022–June 30, 2025)
Productive Aging SIS (PASIS) (Term: July 1, 2022–June 30, 2025)
Rehabilitation & Disability SIS (RDSIS) (Term: July 1, 2022–June 30, 2025)
We seek individuals with one or more of the strengths below to serve in SIS leadership roles tied to these key strengths:
- Innovation: Content creation and use within the SIS practice area, organization and leadership of Journal Clubs
- Outreach: Connecting, communicating, and use of CommunOT to assess and promote practice needs, showcasing SIS work at AOTA INSPIRE Annual Conference & Expo
- Pathways: Networking, mentoring, and organizing groups; point person for the SIS’ CoPs
- Advocacy: Policy and professional advocacy efforts with the SIS and AOTA
- Research: Experience and knowledge in evidence-based practice within the SIS practice area, organization and leadership of Practice Chats, showcasing SIS work at AOTA INSPIRE Annual Conference & Expo
- Capacity: Developing educational modules and/or writing or engaging authors to contribute to publications such as the SIS Quarterly
WORK AND INDUSTRY SIS (WISIS) - Research Coordinator* (Term: Immediate–June 30, 2023)

WISIS is recruiting a research coordinator whose focus will be to elevate evidence-based practice and relevant learning opportunities within the WISIS.

The RA is seeking members with specific interests and expertise to serve on a short-term basis in the following professional areas.
RA Task Force on Sustainability and Climate Change
The RA is looking for up to seven (7) individuals who have interest and expertise for serving on a special task force charged to identify potential actions the occupational therapy profession can take to support its role in sustainability and climate change. The task force shall report back to the RA with recommendations by the Fall 2022 RA meeting to consider AOTA’s responsibility in addressing sustainability issues in occupations, technology, education, practice, ethics, research, policy, and other professional contexts due to climate change.
RA Professional Policy Work Group on Adjunctive and Preparatory Techniques
The RA is looking for up to seven (7) individuals who have interest and expertise for developing a professional policy on adjunctive and preparatory techniques to include dry needling, for guidance in occupational therapy practice. The policy would support practitioners in using adjunctive/preparatory techniques and provide a rationale for external stakeholders regarding their use in occupational therapy practice. This policy is envisioned to provide guidance on current and future techniques and would not serve as an exhaustive list. The policy may provide insight into the clinical reasoning of occupational therapy practitioners in determining the use of adjunctive/preparatory techniques within practice.
