1. Must I be a member of AOTA in order to apply for a position?

Yes, all applicants must be current members in good standing of AOTA. SIS applicants must be a member of the SIS to which he/she is applying.

2. How do I complete an application?

You must complete an online application. You will be asked to log-in using your AOTA username and password.  Follow the online instructions carefully.

3. What do I need to include in the application?

Minimum requirements of all applicants include upload of a CV or résumé and a cover letter outlining specific qualifications and leadership skills targeted for the position.  Some positions have additional requirements such as evidence of state association (affiliate) membership.  Please see the online application for additional information by selecting the specific position of interest from the drop down menu.

4. How do I know if I meet the qualifications for the position?

Specific qualifications can be found on the AOTA website.  Please note that occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants are eligible to apply for appointed positions. 

5. What if I am qualified but not selected for a position?

The Volunteer Leadership Development Committee (VLDC) is responsible for vetting to determine if applicants are qualified.  Once deemed qualified, the VLDC provides names of applicants to the respective Chairpersons.  Each Chairperson reviews application materials and selects individuals for available positions  that match skills, competencies, and needs that support committee composition.  If you are not selected, you may contact the Chairperson for feedback.
