Appointed Positions Available - March 2023

AOTA’s Volunteer Leadership Development Committee (VLDC) is seeking candidates for appointed leadership positions. Please consider yourself or encourage a colleague to complete the online application process.

Note: Occupational therapy assistants are eligible to apply for all positions.

Qualifications

Please review the general eligibility criteria, click on specific positions listed below for details from the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or Job Description (JD) for each position, and review the Volunteer Leadership Competencies for each governance group.

Appointments will be made by June 2023, with assumption of office on July 1, 2023. For more information or questions about positions or the application process, please contact VLDC@aota.org (include your name, email address, and telephone number).

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, March 24, 2023, by 11:59 am ET (just before noon). Prospective appointees will need to submit a letter of interest or short responses indicating why you are a fit for the position, a CV/résumé, and a photo. Proof of membership in the state affiliate may be required for some positions. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline through the online platform in order to be considered.

Awards and Recognitions Committee (ARC)

  •  Member #1 - must be an OTA                     (Term: July 1, 2023–June 30, 2026)

The ARC serves to solicit and oversee nominations, selection, and publication of the Association’s awards and recognitions. They maintain and revise award categories and criteria as necessary in response to member input and the changing professional environment including the creation of new awards and/or the dissolution of existing awards.

Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate:

  • Membership in good standing of the Association and state affiliate at the time of nomination and throughout the term of office
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as an OT or OTA
  • Previous service to a national organization awards program

Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD)

Bylaws, Policies, and Procedures Committee (BPPC)

The DEI Committee serves to oversee, execute, and build upon AOTA’s DEI Strategic Plan and provide strategic guidance to the Board of Directors and other governance bodies to assess progress and advance DEI within AOTA and the profession.

Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate:

  • Genuine interest in DEI and AOTA's vision
  • Experience related to the successful development, implementation, and evaluation of DEI initiatives
  • An understanding of the changing nature of DEI within society, the profession, and AOTA
  • Commitment to continued professional development related to DEI throughout the position’s term of service

 Special Interest Sections

The AOTA Special Interest Section Council (SISC) is recruiting for up to seven vacancies in each of the following special interest sections:

We seek individuals with one or more of the strengths below to serve in SIS leadership/coordinating roles tied to these key strengths:

  • Innovation: Content creation and use within the SIS practice area, organization and leadership of Journal Clubs
  •  Outreach: Connecting, communicating, and use of CommunOT to assess and promote practice needs, showcasing SIS work at AOTA INSPIRE Annual Conference & Expo
  • Pathways: Networking, mentoring, and organizing groups; point person for the SIS’ CoPs
  •  Advocacy: Policy and professional advocacy efforts with the SIS and AOTA
  • Research: Experience and knowledge in evidence-based practice within the SIS practice area, organization and leadership of Practice Chats, showcasing SIS work at AOTA INSPIRE Annual Conference & Expo
  • Capacity: Developing educational modules and/or writing or engaging authors to contribute to publications such as the SIS Quarterly
  • Quarterly Editor: Professional writing or editing experience
